MS. ELLEN MARGRETHE LØJ (DENMARK)
Ellen Margrethe Løj is Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations and coordinator of all UN operations in Liberia.
Ms. Ellen Margrethe Løj has been Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations (2001-2007) and Representative of Denmark on the Security Council in 2005 and 2006, including chairman of the Sanctions Committee. Before that she was State Secretary of the South Group in Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after serving two terms as Under-Secretary in the same South Group of the Ministry, first for Multilateral and then for Bilateral Affairs. From 1986 to 1989, she was head of Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark. She has also served as Denmark’s Ambassador to Israel and the Czech Republic.
