WORKSHOPS
The Africa Commission has hosted three workshops in order to elaborate and refine the draft report of the Commission and further develop the five initiatives.
At the Africa Commission’s second meeting in Addis Ababa in November 2008 it was decided to organize three workshops together with African governments and development partners.
The workshops were organized in collaboration with the African Development Bank, the Brenthurst Foundation, the African Union Commission, the World Bank and the Tanzanian Government. The workshops took place in:
• Washington, United States of America, on 19-20 February 2009
• Tswalu, South Africa, on 16-17 March 2009
• Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 30-31 March 2009
The objective of the workshops was to discuss and elaborate the draft report of the Africa Commission. In addition, the participants explored links to existing programmes and initiatives and identified potential partnerships in the implementation of the initiatives. Working groups were structured around discussion of the Commission’s initiatives.
Participants of the workshops included high-level representatives from African governments, international donor agencies, research institutions, civil society including youth organizations and the private sector.
